House records 10th COVID-19 case as legislative staff tests positive
The House of Representatives has recorded its 10th case of COVID-19 after a congressional staff tested positive for the disease.
House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales confirmed the development in a statement relayed to reporters on Thursday.
"We were advised that a Congressional staff has tested positive for COVID- 19," Montales said, adding that the staff last went to the House on May 21.
"Let’s pray for the recovery of our three positive cases and the safety of their families," the House official said.
Just this Wednesday, Montales said that an employee at the Internal Audit Department of the House of Representatives also tested positive for COVID-19.
Back in March, another House employee who tested positive for COVID-19 died.
Montales said protocols in handling positive cases and their close contacts are being observed by the House.
As of July 2, a total of 38,805 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the Philippines, with 1,274 deaths and 10,673 recoveries. -MDM, GMA News
