Central Visayas logs 247 new COVID-19 cases, 674 more recoveries
The Department of Health (DOH) Region 7 on Thursday reported 674 new recoveries among patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), higher than the 247 new cases logged on the same day.
The number of COVID-19 infections in Central Visayas is now at 11,396 with 4,522 recoveries while death toll climbed to 501 with 32 new fatalities.
The DOH said there are also 6,373 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.
Among the new cases, 34 were from Mandaue City, 24 were from Lapu-Lapu City, 87 were from Cebu, two were from Negros Oriental, and three were from Bohol.
Siquijor remains free from COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, the remaining 97 of the 247 new infections came from Cebu City, the area with the highest number of infections nationwide.
Cebu City’s total COVID-19 cases rose to 7,175 with 3,516 recoveries and 336 deaths.
Nationwide, Central Visayas also has the second-highest number of new COVID-19 cases recorded in the past 14 days by date of onset of illness at 2,987.
The Philippines has logged 51,754 cases with 12,813 recoveries and 1,314 deaths as of Thursday afternoon. -NB, GMA News
