DOH: 505 more health workers catch COVID-19; total up to 4,443


The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported that 505 more health workers contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) over the past week, raising the total to 4,443 as of July 25.

In its daily COVID-19 report, the DOH said total recoveries among health workers climbed to 3,456 after 265 more recovered from the respiratory disease, while the death toll climbed to 36 with one new fatality.

The other 951 medical workers are active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

The five medical professions with the highest number of COVID-19 cases are nurses with 1,585 infections, doctors with 1,023, nursing assistants with 297, medical technologists with 197, and radiologic technologists with 109 cases.

Over 300 other non-medical staff were also included in the tally.

The Philippines has recorded 80,448 COVID-19 cases with 26,110 recoveries and 1,932 deaths as of Sunday afternoon.  — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
