Navy redeploys troops to assist in enforcing quarantine rules in MECQ areas

Troops from the Philippine Navy were deployed again to assist in the enforcement of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in Metro Manila and other high-risk provinces.

According to the Navy on Wednesday, teams were sent out beginning Tuesday to aid other law enforcers in ensuring the strict implementation of quarantine protocols to fight COVID-19 pandemic.

Navy troops are also conducting regular patrol of all sea entry points as well as manning airports, swabbing facilities and other quarantine-controlled areas.

The Philippine Navy vowed that it would double its efforts to help the national government in combating the disease.

The national government has placed the National Capital Region and the provinces of Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Riza under MECQ starting August 4 to 18 after medical frontliners asked for a stricter quarantine status for two weeks. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
