'Bakit ngayon lang yan?' Garin sings in response to Senate panel report

Former Health Secretary and now Iloilo Representative Janette Garin

Former Health Secretary and now Iloilo Representative Janette Garin could not help but sing her frustrations out over the Senate blue ribbon committee report recommending the filing of criminal charges against her over the alleged diversion of P10.6 billion funds of PhilHealth funds.

In a virtual press conference on Wednesday, Garin sang her own version of the classic OPM song "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang" in response to the Senate panel report.

"Bakit ngayon lang yan? Bakit ngayon kung kailan nakikilala na ang totoong mafia?" Garin sang.

"Tila nililinlang, tinatakpan, nililihis, inuuto tayo," she continued.

Garin's song continued as she urged the public to judge for themselves who was telling the truth.

In the same press conference, Garin called the Senate panel report a "big joke" and slammed panel chair Senator Richard Gordon for supposedly taking advantage of his position to go after her.

"Dapat ang manaig ay ang tunay na committee report. Why twist the truth? Is there something hidden? Are there people being protected?" she said.

"Tuwing may kamalian, kakulangan o gustong pagtakpan na ibang issue sisisihin na lang ba lagi ang nakaraang administrasyon? Isisisi na lang sa akin?" she added.

Garin called on the government to hold to account those who rob PhilHealth of their funds as well as those who use the COVID-19 pandemic for their own personal gains.

"I do not know of Senator Gordon’s true intentions and why he keeps on pointing fingers at me. I do not know why he has to release a report ahead of the real Senate report," she said. —LBG, GMA News
