Palace: Release of appointment papers up to officials concerned

Malacañang on Thursday said it is up to the appointees of President Rodrigo Duterte whether to publicize their appointment papers.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque issued the statement after the new Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) president Dante Gierran said he has no copy yet of his appointment paper. Gierran’s appointment was announced by Duterte on Monday.

“It’s the [Office of the] Executive Secretary that said na it’s enough we confirm appointments, we don’t have to post appointment papers,” Roque said in a televised briefing.

“As to the appointment of Gierran, well, dati-rati po we post it, pero ngayon ang policy po namin sa OPS [Office of the Presidential Spokesperson], it’s up to the appointed official to post it if they want.”

Roque assured the public that the Palace remains transparent despite the change in policy.

“Nandiyan pa rin po ang transparency dahil nga inaanunsyo naman namin kung sino iyong na-appoint,” he said.—LDF, GMA News
