Sorsogon congresswoman Ditas Ramos gets COVID-19


Sorsogon 2nd District Representative Ditas Ramos tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), House Secretary-General Jose Luis Montales announced Sunday.

“We received word that Congresswoman Ditas Ramos (2nd District, Sorsogon) has tested positive for COVID-19,” Montales told reporters.

“She developed symptoms and got tested in the province,” he added.

Montales also said that a Congressional staffer likewise tested positive for COVID-19.

The staffer was last at the House of Representatives on September 2, and “experienced chills, body pain, and fever after doing some work outside HRep on September 3.”

The Secretary-General said contact tracing was now ongoing.

The two newest cases brought the total number of COVID-19 infections in the lower chamber of Congress to 69.

Of this number, 18 were active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.
