DOTr: LRT2 East Extension project 92.14% complete
The Light Rail Transit Line 2's (LRT2) East Extension project is nearing full completion, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Wednesday.

The four-kilometer extension to the existing 13.8-kilometer LRT2 line is expected to transport an additional 80,000 passengers daily from the current average daily ridership of 240,000, with two new stations, namely, Emerald Station in Marikina, and Masinag Station at the Masinag Junction in Antipolo City.
“Oras na matapos ang proyekto, magiging 40 minutes na lang ang biyahe mula Masinag, Antipolo hanggang Recto, Manila - mula sa kasalukuyang tatlong oras na biyahe sa pamamagitan ng bus o jeepney,” the DOTr said.
In 2019, construction giant D.M. Consunji Inc, and its Japanese partner Marubeni Corp. has bagged the $62-million contract for LRT2 East Extension’s electrical and mechanical package for the four-kilometer railway system extension with two additional stations eastwards.
DMCI is also the contractor for the construction of an elevated viaduct for the extension of the existing LRT2 East Extension project. It bagged the P2.27-billion construction project in 2015.
