Robredo on second chance at romance: Unimaginable
Vice President Leni Robredo has ruled out the possibility of new love, saying it was "unimaginable" for her to be romantically involved with someone after her happy marriage with the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.
“Unimaginable. Unimaginable for me. Kahit siguro hindi ako Vice President, [it would be] unimaginable to still be with another person. Hindi ko ma-imagine to be with somebody else,” Robredo said in a Basta Batas forum when asked if she is dating somebody.
“Parati ko itong sinasabi, I have been blessed with the best husband. Tingin ko hindi na ako magiging masuwerte ulit. Lahat na blessings binigay na sa akin, [kasama ang] pagkakaroon ko ng asawang napakabuti,” Robredo added.
Robredo’s husband died in a plane crash off the coast in Masbate in August 2012—an incident that dragged her and her three daughters to the spotlight and public life since then.
In less than a year, Robredo, who is also a lawyer, was fielded as the Liberal Party (LP) candidate for Third District representative of her home province of Camarines Sur and won.
Less than two years later, she was fielded as the Aquino administration’s candidate for vice president under the then dominant party Liberal Party. She won the 2016 vice presidential race against then Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
Being single, her romantic life is a frequent topic among those who are critical of her.
Still, the Vice President insisted that she is fine without another shot at romance.
“Twenty-five years iyong ibinigay sa akin [with Jesse]. Iyon iyong number one. Parati kong sinasabi, I’ve had enough love to last me a lifetime,” Robredo said.
“Number two, sa dami ng trabaho ko, may panahon pa ba ako mag-date?,” she added with a laugh.—LDF, GMA News
