424,000 accosted so far over health protocol violations

Around 424,000 have been accosted so far for violating health protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Joint Task Force COVID Shield commander Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar said on Sunday.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, Eleazar noted that the average number of violators per day is around 2,186.

“Based on our daily monitoring for the past 194 days, ay 424,000 na po 'yung ating na-accost na violators. Pero kung titignan natin, nag-average po ‘yan ng around 2,186,” Elezar said.

Eleazar encouraged strengthening the barangay reporting system for better monitoring of violations.

“After ma-booking, binibigyan sila ng ordinance violation receipt at pinapauwi na. At sa takdang panahon, dapat magbayad sila ng penalty in accordance with the provision ng ordinansa,” he said.

“Kung hindi nila po gagawin ‘yun, puwede po silang ma-file-an ng kaso at puwede silang magkaroon ng warrant of arrest,” he added.

Eleazar urged the public to strictly observe health protocols to stop the further spread of COVID-19 in the country. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
