Next in line for eviction are retired senior Navy officers
After 115 overstaying enlisted personnel were evicted on Friday, June 2, it is now the turn of retired senior officers of the Philippine Navy to leave the Navy housing site in Fort Bonifacio. Navy spokesman Capt. Geronimo Malabanan on Saturday said that 41 retired senior officers will be given a notice of eviction in the coming days, though he declined to name them for now. ââ¬ÅSa senior quarters may 41 overstaying officers, plano nating bigyan ng notice of eviction (There are 41 overstaying officers at the senior quarters. We plan to give them notices of eviction)," Malabanan said. He also said the Navy is ready to counter legal moves the evictees are planning to use. The Navy, Malabanan said, has already enlisted the help of the Office of the Solicitor General. The Navy earlier evicted more than 100 retired officers and enlisted personnel from its housing site in Fort Bonifacio to make room for incoming tenants. The last eviction, which took place Friday and affected some 115 retired Navy personnel, went smoothly. Malabanan said Fridayââ¬â¢s event involved more than 400 trips, including ferrying one retired personnelââ¬â¢s belongings to Pangasinan. ââ¬ÅInaayos na ang mga bahay (We are now fixing the houses). We will start cleaning them this Monday in time for the turnover on June 22 when the Navy marks its 108th anniversary," he said. GMANews.TV
