Duterte picks ex-Malolos City mayor Christian Natividad as Optical Media Board chief

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former Malolos City, Bulacan Mayor Christian Natividad as chairman of the Optical Media Board (OMB), Malacañang said Friday.

The former mayor will serve as OMB chairperson for three years, according to presidential spokesperson Harry Roque. Natividad took the oath of office before Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi on Thursday.

“We hope the appointment of Mr. Natividad would lead the OMB to greater heights, particularly in fighting optical media piracy and protecting intellectual property rights in digital form,” Roque said.

“We wish Mr. Natividad good luck in his new assignment.”

Natividad ran for Bulacan governor in the 2019 midterm elections under Duterte’s political party PDP-Laban, but he lost to then vice governor Daniel Fernando.  — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
