SSS extends contribution deadline anew, payments accepted until December 1

The Social Security System (SSS) has extended anew its contribution payment deadline, as it said it will allow members to settle their overdue contributions until December 1.

In an emailed statement, SSS said it extended the deadline for the contributions for the months of February to October 2020 to November 30, 2020 but since this is a holiday, payments may be made on the next working day or December 1.

SSS said employers with approved installment proposals are also given until December 1 to deposit their post-dated checks which fall due from March to October 2020.

Contribution payments from January to September of self-employed (SE), voluntary members (VM), and non-working spouse (NWS) members and household employers for their employees may also be paid until the deadline.

"Contribution payments of employers for the said applicable periods would not incur penalties if paid within the deadline. Since November 30 is a holiday, payments may be made on the next working day," the SSS said.

The SSS also reminded SE, VM, and NWS members that no contributions paid retroactively will be used in determining the eligibility for any benefit claim.

"Apart from over-the-counter payment facilities, our bank partners and we have online platforms where employers and members can make their SSS payments in the convenience and safety of their homes or offices," said SSS president and CEO Aurora Ignacio.—AOL, GMA News
