NDRRMC: Over P100M worth of aid given to Ulysses victims


More than P100 million worth of assistance was extended to victims of typhoon Ulysses nationwide, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday.

In its latest situation report, the NDRRMC said a total of P114,615,669.35 was provided to the affected families in Regions I, II, III, CALABARZON, V, and the Cordillera Autonomous Region. 

According to the disaster response body, the assistance came from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, local government units, non-government organizations and other private institutions.

A total of 891,457 families or 3,672,521 individuals have been affected by the typhoon; of which, 45,906 families or 183,644 people are being served inside evacuation centers, it said, adding that the toll remains at 73, and 19 people are still missing.

Luzon was placed under a state of calamity due to damage from Typhoon Ulysses as it wreaked havoc from November 11 and 12, aggravating the impacts Typhoons Quinta and Rolly that also battered the northern Philippine Island successively occurring for the last week of October to the first week of this month.  

In areas declared under a state of calamity, the Quick Response Fund or stand-by fund may be utilized for relief and recovery programs in order that the situation and living conditions of people in communities or areas stricken by disaster, calamities, epidemics or complex emergencies may be normalized as quickly as possible.
