Construction of OFW hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga at 50% —DOLE
The construction of a hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga dedicated to the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) is now at 50%, the Department of Labor and Employment said Friday.
In a virtual press briefing, DOLE Region 3 director Zenaida Campita said the P1.3 billion hospital is expected to be fully operational before the end of President Rodrigo Duterte’s term in 2022.
Campita said the hospital will have a 200-bed capacity, state of the art facilities, and a diagnostic center.
Moreover, she said DOLE will partner with the Department of Health to manage the OFW hospital.
Under the said arrangement, Campita said the hospital will get regular funding.
“The one who will run the hospital, ang partner po natin ang DOH. ‘Pag sila po ang nagpatakbo, may assurance ng annual appropriation,” she said.
Asked on who are qualified to benefit from the OFW hospital, Campita said the policy is yet to be polished.
“Pero hindi naman po pababayaan (ang pamilya ng mga OFW) kasi intended for them ito. May policy rin po ‘yan siguro,” she said.—AOL, GMA News
