NEA says power restored in 74% of Ulysses-hit cities, municipalities


Electricity has been restored in a significant portion of communities affected by Typhoon Ulysses, a report from the National Electrification Administration said Saturday.

Citing monitoring data from its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (DRRMD) as of 3 p.m., November 20, the NEA said power supply has been restored to 74.42% of 473 cities and municipalities affected by outages due to the typhoon, “with full restoration in the coverage areas of 17 electric cooperatives (ECs).”

The 17 ECs that reported 100% power restoration are the following:

  • Mountain Province Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MOPRECO)
  • La Union Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LUELCO)
  • Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENPELCO)
  • Pangasinan III Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PANELCO III)
  • Cagayan II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CAGELCO II)
  • Peninsula Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PENELCO)
  • Pampanga II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PELCO II)
  • Pampanga III Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PELCO III)
  • Pampanga Rural Electric Service Cooperative, Inc. (PRESCO)
  • Zambales II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ZAMECO II)
  • San Jose City Electric Cooperative (SAJELCO)
  • Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative, Inc. - Area 1 (NEECO II - Area 1)
  • Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative, Inc. - Area 2 (NEECO II - Area 2)
  • Tablas Island Electric Cooperative, Inc. (TIELCO)
  • Ticao Island Electric Cooperative, Inc. (TISELCO)
  • Sorsogon I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SORECO I)
  • Sorsogon II Electric Cooperative (SORECO II)

Meanwhile, at least 16 other ECs have restored 90% to 99% of the electricity in their respective franchise areas, according to the NEA.

These ECs include power co-ops operating in Benguet, Ifugao, and Kalinga in CAR; parts of Pangasinan in Region I; parts of Cagayan, Isabela, and Quirino in Region II; parts of Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, and Nueva Ecija in Region III; portions of Quezon, Laguna, and Batangas in CALABARZON.

On the other hand, five power co-ops, namely Aurora Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AURELCO), Quezon II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (QUEZELCO II), Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO II), Camarines Sur IV Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO IV), and Camarines Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CANORECO), have restored 70% to 89% of power in their respective coverage areas.

The Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative (NUVELCO) reported 66.75% restoration level; Camarines Sur I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO I) at 63.31% power restored; Albay Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ALECO/APEC) at 46.86%; Camarines Sur III Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO III) at 42.28%; and First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FICELCO) at 9.38% restoration level. —LBG, GMA News
