Sinas orders creation of special task group for doctor, husband slay probe
Philippine National Police chief Police General Debold Sinas has ordered the creation of a special investigation task group that will look into the slay of Dr. Mary Rose Sancelan and her husband in Negros Oriental last Tuesday.
"Sinabi ko mag-create ng special investigation [task] group para po tutukan ito at alamin ang puno't dulo ng insidente ...," Sinas told CNN Philippines on Thursday.
Sinas said a probe is ongoing in regard the slay of the couple.
Sancelan and his husband, Edwin, were shot dead in Barangay Poblacion, Guihulngan City.
Police had recovered 15 fired bullets of caliber .45 handgun at the crime scene.
According to Karapatan-Negros Island, Sancelan, who was the head of IATF in the city, was allegedly named number one in the supposed "hitlist" of KAGUBAK, an anti-communist vigilante group in Negros Oriental.
Sancelan was allegedly tagged as JB Regalado, the spokesperson of Leonardo Panaligan Command of NPA-Central Negros.
For his part, Sinas said he is not privy to this information from the rights group.
"Wala po akong alam... alamin ko po, wala po akong natatanggap na report tungkol diyan at alamin ko po kung saan galing ang report na 'yan," Sinas said. —LBG, GMA News
