Benhur Abalos to take over as MMDA chief


Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr., former mayor of Mandaluyong City, is set to take over as the chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Abalos will replace former MMDA chairman Danilo "Danny" Lim, who passed away last week.The cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but he earlier contracted COVID-19.

Abalos himself contracted COVID-19 earlier this year, along with his parents. His father, Benjamin Sr., was MMDA chairman from 2001 to 2002.

The change in MMDA leadership was reported by Senator Christopher "Bong" Go on Sunday. No further details were immediately available.

 

 

The MMDA is mandated to formulate, coordinate, and regulate the implementation of medium and long-term plans and programs for the delivery of metro-wide services, land use, and physical development within Metropolitan Manila. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
