Bikoy posts P18,000 bail over perjury case
Peter Joemel Advincula, alias Bikoy, has posted bail for the perjury case filed against him over his allegedly false statements claiming that several lawyers were part of an ouster plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to a statement released Thursday, Advincula and his brother, Joseph, surrendered on Wednesday night at the Daraga Municipal Police Station in Albay after the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 17 ordered their arrest.
“Patunay lamang ito na lahat ng kaso na isasampa sa aking kapatid ay haharapin namin ito ng buong tapang. Walang balak na magtago si Bikoy dahil gusto niya na malinis ang kaniyang pangalan,” Joseph said.
“Naniniwala ako sa proseso at sa batas at dapat makipagtulungan sa proseo na ito,” he added.
Peter Joemel is being represented by lawyer Larry Gadon.
Prosecutors accused Peter Joemel of making "untruthful statements" under oath when he claimed that lawyers Jose Manuel "Chel" Diokno, Lorenzo "Erin" Tañada III, and former Supreme Court spokesman Theodore Te were part of a plot seeking to oust President Rodrigo Duterte.
The complaint is an offshoot of the sedition complaint filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
According to a report on “24 Oras,” Assistant State Prosecutor Ferdinand Fernandez said the sedition complaint also did not identify the participation of the individuals being accused by Peter Joemel. -MDM, GMA News
