Christine Dacera's mom casts doubt on natural death findings
The mother of flight attendant Christine Dacera, who was found dead in a Makati hotel room on New Year’s Day, expressed her doubts over the medico legal findings which said her daughter died of natural causes.
According to Emil Sumangil’s “24 Oras” report on Thursday, Sharon Dacera said Police Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Palmero, who wrote the medico legal report, had no authority to examine Christine's internal organs.
“With that report done by Palmero, we are questioning him. And at the same time, based doon sa sabi niya na mga bahagi ng katawan ng anak ko, wala po kaming binigay na authority sa kanya na kunin niya ‘yun,” Sharon said.
The PNP Crime Laboratory ruled out homicide in Christine’s death, saying that she died of ruptured aortic aneurysm and had a "chronic condition" that "started long time ago or maybe years prior to her death."
The Dacera family alleged that there were “irregularities” in the medico legal report.
Sharon said that the report was dated January 11 when Christine’s body was already in her hometown of General Santos City on January 8.
She was buried on January 10.
“Nasa possession na ng Crime Laboratory office [ng] Camp Crame itong mga organs na ito for histopathological examination. So it is incorrect to state na hindi ma-e-examine ang organ dahil inilipad na sa General Santos City ang body ni Ms. Dacera,” countered Mike Santiago, lawyer of the respondents in the case.
The Dacera family also questioned why the PNP’s report did not address the bruises on Christine’s body.
Sharon added that her daughter had no history of hypertension and was not taking any maintenance drugs.
The PNP report said Christine’s condition was undiagnosed.
Meanwhile, the flight attendant’s friends who were initially accused of having a hand in her death said they wished for Sharon to find peace.
The preliminary investigation into the case will resume on February 3. -Julia Mari Ornedo/NB, GMA News
