StaySafe.PH acquisition issues to be resolved by March 22 –Magalong

Contact tracing czar and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Tuesday said the problems over the government obtaining the StaySafe.PH app from developer Multisys Technologies Corp. will be resolved by March 22.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Magalong said the delay in the turnover of the contact tracing app stemmed from the condition set by the government that the developer should first complete the system.

Aside from this, the government also wanted Multisys to cut its link to the app once it was obtained.

“It looks like, hindi nangyari ‘yun,” he said.

(“It looks like it did not happen.”)

“This is something na nire-resolve namin. During my talk with {National Telehealth Center Director] Dr. Raymond Sarmiento, binanggit niya sa akin na mare-resolve ito by March 22, hopefully,” he added.

Asked about the threat of using the application against people critical of the government, Magalong said the public should be assured that the application will comply with data privacy.

Last year, Multisys assured its users that they would not be monitored through the application’s geolocation feature.

The StaySafe.ph System will be utilized as the primary contact tracing system in the country. Other contact tracing apps will also be integrated into this system.  — DVM, GMA News
