Organizers ensure safety in Suarez healing masses following deaths - report
Organizers of Fr Fernando Suarez's healing masses have made adjustments to his future engagements after two devotees died waiting for him in Olongapo City over the weekend. Radio dwIZ reported Monday that the organizers will coordinate with local police for crowd control to ensure there is no overcrowding in the future venues of the healing masses. Medical workers and Red Cross volunteers will also be on hand to help the faithful who may faint while waiting for the healing priest, the report said. For his part, Fr Suarez, a graduate of Chemical Engineering and a native of Batangas province, said he regretted the deaths. He is in the country to hold a series of healing Masses for fellow Filipinos. Fr Suarez also established the Mary Mother of the Poor charitable organization in Canada. With supporters, he is building the Montemaria (mountain of Mary) shrine in Batangas. Initial reports last weekend identified the two fatalities as Juanito Eleazar, 69, who died of a heart attack, and one Victoria Umali. At least 15,000 faithful waited for Fr Suarez's healing mass in Olongapo City last weekend. - GMANews.TV
