Ang Probinsyano lawmaker tests positive for COVID-19
Ang Probinsyano party-list Representative Alfred Delos Santos has tested positive for COVID-19.
Delos Santos confirmed this to GMA News Online on Monday: "Yes, I tested positive via antigen today."
He said he has yet to receive the result of his RT-PCR test.
Last week, the Department of Health said antigen test results would be included in the official tally of COVID-19 cases in NCR Plus as part of the country’s outbreak response.
Delos Santos said he had his antigen test in Metro Manila.
The lawmaker also said he is experiencing some minor symptoms such as cough and colds.
"A little bit groggy but all the rest is same lang po," Delos Santos said.
In a separate press statement, it was said that Delos Santos had a contact with a COVID-19 positive before he contracted the disease.
Delos Santos also raised alarm over the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country, especially in the Bicol Region. Last Saturday, a total of 62 new infections were recorded in the region.
"I think it's time to be strict again in the implementation of health protocols. Medyo nagkakaroon na kasi ng compliance fatigue ang mga tao kaya nababalewala minsan ang health protocols (Some are already experiencing compliance fatigue that's why people tend to ignore health protocols)," Delos Santos said.
The lawmaker urged local government units to strictly enforce the minimum health standards. Delos Santos also asked the national government to constantly monitor the COVID-19 situation in provinces.
Delos Santos also vowed to provide face masks and face shields in communities, especially in public areas.
"Kung wala o kulang ang supply ng mga gamit na ito, we will supplement their stations in areas frequented by the public like markets, groceries, malls, etc.," Delos Santos said.
"When a community or area is placed on localized lockdown, in partnership with the LGU, we shall deliver to them food items and other necessities so that they won't have to go out and risk spreading the virus," he added.—AOL, GMA News
