Management trainee robbed, killed allegedly by TNVS driver, accomplice

A 24-year-old woman was robbed and repeatedly stabbed allegedly by a driver of a ride-hailing app and his accomplice.

According to Mariz Umali’s report on “24 Oras,” Carlota Antasuda, a management trainee for a fastfood restaurant, booked a car through Grab on April 1 at the Commonwealth, Quezon City to go home to Pasig.

However, a different car than the one in the ride-hailing app picked up the victim.

“Kuya, bakit iba ‘yung sasakyan. Ang sagot naman sa kaniya, nasira daw ‘yung talagang naka-register doon sa Grab account kaya ‘yun ang ginamit niya kaya sumakay na itong biktima,” QCPD chief Police Major Elmer Monsalve said.

[The victim asked why it’s a different car. But the suspect said that the car registered in the Grab account was broken. That’s why the victim rode the car.]

As soon as she boarded the car, Antasuda was told by the suspect, driver John Lester Alhambra, that she was being robbed.

The suspect’s accomplice, Brian Kenneth Humol, was hiding in the back of the vehicle.

“Dapat makakalabas pa nga raw it ito. Ang ginawa nitong driver, nung lalabas, tumakbo ulit paikot, isinara ‘yung pinto, tinulak papasok itong babae, itong buktima, hanggang sa nag pangbuno na doon,” he said.

[He said she was supposed to be able to get out. What the driver did was he ran around and closed the door and pushed the victim inside until they were brawling.]

“Habang nagpapangbuno sila, ang ginagawa nitong isang suspect, saksak ng saksak para bumitaw sa kanya. Hanggang sa tumumba na lang,” he added.

[While they were fighting, the other suspect kept stabbing her to make her let go until she fell.]

The suspects then left the lifeless victim in Barangay Sauyok, Quezon City past 12 am on April 2.

Past noon, Antasuda’s parents reported her missing to the police. They said they last talked to her before she rode Grab.

As the victim was able to send the tracking locator to her parents, police authorities quickly located the suspect and the vehicle.

“Umamin na siya at tinuro na niya ‘yung kasama niya… na siya driver lang pero hindi siya sumaksak,” he said.

[The driver confessed and revealed his accomplice. He said he was only a driver and he did not stab her.]

Humol, meanwhile, was arrested in an entrapment operation.

“Una, pagnanakaw lang. Kaya lang nauwi sa pagpatay dahil nga pumalag itong babae, lumaban sa kanila,” Monsalve said.

[It started as a robbery. But it ended in murder because the woman fought back.]

Robbery with homicide was charged against the suspects. --NB, GMA News
