Adelino Sitoy, Duterte's liaison to Congress, dies


Palace on Thursday mourned over the death of Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) Secretary Adelino Sitoy. He was 85 years old.

President Rodrigo Duterte interrupted the briefing on COVID-19 developments on Thursday night to announce Sitoy's passing and for a moment of silence. 

"The Palace expresses its deep condolences to the family, loved ones and colleagues of Secretary Adelino Sitoy of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO)," Duterte spokesman Harry Roque in a statement.

"Sec. Sitoy was instrumental in the passage of the key legislative reform measures of the Duterte Administration," Roque added.

Sitoy also led a stronger collaboration of the Executive and Legislative Department, said Roque.

Based on PLLO official website, Sitoy finished Bachelor of Laws in University of San Carlos in Cebu.

He also taught in universities in Cebu and assumed post as Dean of College of Law in University of Cebu from 2002 to 2007.

Sitoy was also the assistant City Fiscal of Cebu City in 1963 and acting City Fiscal of Toledo City. --NB, GMA News
