LTFRB: 80% of traditional jeepneys back in Metro Manila routes

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Friday that a significant percentage of traditional jeepneys have been allowed to ply public transportation routes in Metro Manila.

“Halos 80% ng traditional PUJs (public utility jeepneys) ay naibalik na sa pre-COVID routes,” LTFRB executive director Joel Bolano said during state-run PTV’s Laging Handa briefing.

Bolano said that almost 40,000 units of traditional jeepneys are already serving commuters in the National Capital Region.

Data from the LTFRB showed that it so far opened 414 traditional jeepney routes comprising 37,246 units.

“Nakakatugon na po ito sa pangangailangan ng mga pasahero,” he said.
