PNP reshuffles key posts as Binag retires
There will be new designations in the country's police organization as Lieutenant General Cesar Hawthorne Binag, chief of Philippine National Police (PNP) deputy chief of operations, leaves his post on April 24.
In a Monday press conference at Camp Crame, PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas announced that he recommended to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año the following designations:
Chief of Directorial Staff Police General Jojo Vera Cruz designated as PNP deputy chief of operations.
Directorate Integrated Police Operations in Northern Luzon director Lieutenant General Ephraim Dickson appointed as Chief of Directorial Staff
Police Major General Manny Abu of PNP Human Resource and Doctrine Development appointed as DIPO Northern Luzon chief
New PNP chief
Sinas said the recommendation of the new PNP chief will be up to Año.
"First we will wait. It's the SILG who will recommend kung sino mag next Chief PNP. Irecommend po ni SILG yun kay PRRD (President Rodrigo Roa Duterte) then the President will select and designate the new Chief PNP," said Sinas.
(SILG will recommend the next PNP chief. He will recommend it to Duterte, who will then decide the new PNP chief.)
Sinas was appointed as PNP chief in November 2020. He is a member of Philippine Military Academy Class of 1987 and is expected to retire this May 8.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
