Galvez: More than 1.3 million Pinoys vaccinated vs. COVID-19

Philippine vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. on Wednesday said a total of 1,353,107 Filipinos have been inoculated against COVID-19 since the official rollout of the vaccination program in March.

At the joint meeting of the House Committees on Health and Trade and Industry, Galvez presented government data on the status of the vaccination program.

He said a total of 1,562,563 vaccines were already administered to individuals.

The breakdown of those inoculated are as follows:

  • A1 (health workers) - 989,703
  • A2 (senior citizens) - 132,948
  • A3 (persons with comorbidities) - 180,315

The data presented was as of April 20, Tuesday.

Galvez said the national government is eyeing to inoculate the general public starting July.

Also at the hearing, Galvez  said the government is eyeing to hold vaccine simulations in NCR Plus, administering 120,000 shots of COVID-19 vaccines per day to individuals in the area, provided that there is a steady supply of vaccines.

"Our supply chain experts have also provided some sort of simulations wherein the NCR Plus will have a 120,000 jabs a day with the requirement that the NCR should have a steady supply of 3.3 million (doses) monthly," Galvez said in a joint hearing of the House Committees on Health and Trade and Industry.

"With that, we will designate mega vaccination sites like the malls and the different arenas and gymnasiums," he added.

Galvez said the simulations would be done in June. — RSJ, GMA News
