VP Robredo reminds supporters to follow health rules on lugaw drive for her birthday
Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday reminded her supporters to follow health protocols as start a lugaw feeding program for her 56th birthday on Friday (April 23).
The Vice President, likewise, thanked her friends and supporters for the initiative to give hot rice porridge as it would help those in need during the pandemic. Robredo's critics have been associating her with lugaw or porridge as a way of mockery.
"I have been reading posts about friends and supporters doing a Lugaw Feeding Program tomorrow. It’s the best thing to do on your special day -by being a blessing to other people. This pandemic has truly brought kindness and compassion among us. I am truly appreciative," Robredo said on Facebook.
"Just want to remind everyone to take extra precaution because we are still in the middle of the pandemic. Please make sure that there will be no gathering of big groups and always, always ensure physical distancing," she added.
Robredo also asked her supporters to avoid placing her name or putting up photos of her during the food drive.
"Iwasan din po natin maglagay ng pangalan o mukha ko (baka mawalan ng gana ang kumakain). Maraming salamat pong muli," Robredo said.

The vice president also acknowledged early birthday greetings that she received.
"A year before my husband died, he planned a surprise on my birthday. Nothing grand. It was just a small gathering among close friends. Two years ago, I spent my birthday in Marawi. But that was work," Robredo also said.
The vice president said she will be under quarantine while working during her birthday. She earlier tested negative for the virus but her doctors advised her to finish her 10-day quarantine.
Her isolation began after one of her security personnel was diagnosed with the severe viral ailment, which has infected at least 971,049 Filipinos nationwide. -- BAP, GMA News
