OVP to hold Labor Day concert for health workers

The office of Vice President (OVP) Leni Robredo will hold an online concert to pay tribute to health workers and their families to mark the Labor Day on May 1.

In a statement, Robredo’s office said that the concert,—dubbed as Harana: Musical Tribute to Filipino Frontliners under the OVP’s Istorya ng Pag-asa program—seeks to offer a breather to healthcare workers leading the fight against COVID-19.

The list of performers include: The Company, Noel Cabangon, Cooky Chua, Nonoy Zuñiga, Agot Isidro, Buboy Garrovillo, Joana Ampil, Renato Lucas, Skarlet Brown, Ivy Violan, Joey Ayala, Noli Aurillo, and Bayang Barrios, among others.

Aside from the artists, highlighting the concert are performances from doctors, nurses, and staff from the Philippine General Hospital.

Messages of inspiration and hope from frontliners, their families, and patients who recovered from COVID-19 will also be featured in the program.

“Viewing stations in participating hospitals, such as the National Kidney Transplant Institute and the Quirino Memorial Medical Center, and other provincial hospitals will be set up to allow on-duty frontliners, as well as patients, to enjoy the musical,” the OVP said in a statement.

True Faith band founder and lead vocalist and Medwin Marfil and Binibining Pilipinas 2020 Top 16 finalist Caroline Veronilla will host the concert which will be aired live on the Istorya ng Pag-asa Facebook page at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

One of the OVP's partners in the initiative is Architect Peach Buencamino who was also among those who initiated the Oasis Project (free dorm) for frontliners amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Sana kahit papano, kahit sandali at kahit sa maliit na paraan ay magawa nating ipakita ang ating paghanga at pagmamahal para malaman nilang hindi sila nag-iisa sa labang ito,” Buencamino said.
