DFA: 2 more Filipinos abroad succumb to COVID-19
Two more Filipinos abroad succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,147, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
According to the DFA, the total number of cases abroad also rose to 18,380 with 23 new infections while recoveries climbed to 11,274 after four more recuperated from the illness.
Meanwhile, there were 5,959 patients still undergoing treatment.
Based on data from the DFA, there are a total of 3,591 cases in Asia and the Pacific region with 1,114 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 2,448 patients have recovered and 29 have died.
In the Middle East or Africa, a total of 10,453 Filipinos have tested positive for COVID-19, of which 3,804 are still undergoing treatment, 5,902 have recovered, and 747 have died.
A total of 3,356 cases were also reported in Europe with 927 patients still undergoing treatment. The region has reported 2,299 recoveries and 130 fatalities.
Meanwhile, the Americas has recorded 980 cases with 114 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 625 Filipinos in the region have recovered and 241 have died. — DVM, GMA News
