Nayong Pilipino vaccination site suited for 24/7 ops —NTF exec

The vaccination site the government is planning to build inside the Nayong Pilipino property may be made to operate 24/7, to increase the number of daily inoculations.

National Task Force Against COVID-19 spokesperson Restituto Padilla told "Dobol B TV" that the project may be best suited for 24/7 vaccination operation as it has its own vaccine storage facility, and continuous supply of vaccines.

"Ang kagandahan dito may sariling storage facility, yung 24/7 maaaring gawin diyan dahil mayroon silang makukuhang bakuna na tuloy tuloy."

Padilla said that while the controversial mega-vaccination site is yet to be launched, the government is seeking to get it started within a month.

"Sa pagkakaalam ko maayos na po nagkasunduan na yung gagawin diyan. Hindi ko alam kung na-launch na yung project, ang pangako po, within a month to a month and a half" (I heard an agreement has been made. I don't know if the project has been launched, but they promised to have it within a month and a half), he said.

Earlier, the Nayong Pilipino Foundation objected to the project, fearing construction activities' possible impact on the environment.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. had called on the board of the Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) to approve the building of the mega vaccination center.

Galvez noted that the NPF Board of Trustees (NPFBT) has yet to sign the deal with the NTF Against COVID-19 for the construction of the mega vaccination site.

NPFBT's opposition to  the construction project was mainly based on its possible impact on the environment, as over 500 trees would have to be cut down to make space for the vaccination center.

The Department of Health, meanwhile, said the strategy to make vaccination 24/7 may be discussed later as supplies are still insufficient. —LBG, GMA News
