OVP picks Manila as pilot test area for vaccine hub program
The Office of the Vice President's vaccination hub program will officially start in the city of Manila, wherein economic frontline workers will be prioritized.
In her weekly radio program on Sunday, Vice President Leni Robredo said she earlier met with Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to ease inoculation efforts of residents through vaccination inside buses.
"Ipa-pilot na natin yung Manila City sa mobile vaccination para ipakita na (Manila will be our pilot test area so that we can show that) it can be done," said Robredo.
"So ngayon, nagta-time and motion study kami, naghahanap kami ng lugar na pwedeng gawan. Yung nagbabakuna hindi na kailangan bumaba sa sasakyan. Ang unahin namin ng ibang frontliners, non medical frontliners na kailangan ng protection," she added.
(For now, we are doing time-and-motion study, looking for areas where we will do the mobile vaccination. Vaccinators don't need to leave the vehicle. We will first vaccinate non-medical frontliners who need protection.)
Robredo said they are targeting to vaccinate about 24,000 people using the mobile hubs once more supplies arrive in the locality.
Earlier, Robredo's office offered to local government units their plan to transform Swab Cab into vaccination hubs once vaccine supplies are steady.
Swab Cab is the OVP's program which offers free antigen tests in communities to immediately trace and treat new COVID-19 cases. —LBG, GMA News
