Philippines to receive 3.2M COVID-19 vaccine doses on June 10, 2021
The Philippines is expected to receive the largest number of COVID-19 vaccine doses in a day on Thursday, with 3.27 million doses set to arrive in two batches, the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 said Wednesday.
The NTF said that of the 3.27 million doses, one million are Sinovac doses while 2,279,160 million are Pfizer-BioNTech doses donated by the global effort COVAX facility.
The Sinovac doses are expected to arrive at 7:30 a.m. while the Pfizer-BioNTech doses are due at 9 p.m.
6 million Pinoys vaccinated
The NTF also reported that around six million Filipinos have received COVID-19 vaccine so far. Of this number, 1,604,260 individuals have been fully vaccinated or have received the needed two doses.
Those who already received one dose include priority groups A1 (healthcare workers), A2 (senior citizens), A3 (persons with comorbidities), and A4 (economic frontliners).
Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez earlier said that at least 10 million COVID-19 vaccine doses are expected to be delivered to the Philippines within June.
The government has started vaccinating A4 group, which covers 35 million individuals, on Monday. Vaccination for categories A1, A2 and A3 remain ongoing.
But due to limited supply, the national government has tasked local government units to prioritize vaccination of A4 individuals aged 40 to 59 years old before shifting to those aged 18 to 39 years old. —KBK, GMA News
