PNoy's final resting place being readied

Workers were busy on Saturday morning preparing the final resting place of former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III or PNoy at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City.

They hung a white curtain on the tomb designated for the former President.

His remains will be buried beside the tombs of his parents, former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino.

Workers set up a table, a green carpet, and yellow and white flowers at the site, according to a report by Nimfa Ravelo on Dobol B TV. Yellow is the color associated with the Aquino family.

A sound system and a big screen were also being readied in the area.

The gravestone marker was already placed beside the tomb.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of the memorial park, members of the Philippine National Police and force multipliers from the barangay were already on standby, according to a report by Mao dela Cruz on Dobol B TV.

Traffic will be rerouted in the area to make way for the funeral convoy.

Filipinos will catch a last glimpse of PNoy at a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Gesu at the  Ateneo de Manila University, the former President's school.

The mass will be presided by Archbishop Socrates Villegas, the Aquino family earlier said.

After the Mass, the funeral convoy will take C5 Road then South Luzon Expressway then exit toward the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Parañaque City.

Individuals who wish to pay their final respects along the route were advised to observe health protocols against the coronavirus disease 2019.
