Salesian community loses 3 priests in 12 days, two due to COVID-19

The members of the Salesian Community of Don Bosco - Philippines North Province lost three priests within a span of less than two weeks, two priests to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The community, in a social media post, acknowledged the outpouring of sympathy from the communities that their confreres served.

"We are Deeply Grateful!" they said.

No words could ever express our appreciation for the prayers, love, and support you have shown us after the passing of our Confreres:

  • Fr. Roger Tamares, SDB
  • Fr. Renan Michael La Guardia, SDB
  • Fr. Vicente Cervania, SDB

They have brought great comfort to us as we grieve our loss.

La Guardia was a Philosophy Professor, passed away on Tuesday evening, the 3rd of August at 8:15 at the Makati Medical Center due to critical COVID-19 pneumonia.

Here is the tribute to Father Mike:

Father Cervania passed away last Wednesday evening, the 4th of August due to "acute respiratory distress syndrome to consider pulmonary embolism."

Fr. Roger Tamares, who was Rector and Parish Priest of St. John Bosco Parish in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, died on the 24th of July.
