Public warned vs. fake DOJ chief email
The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Saturday warned the public against a fake email address of a person posing as Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
In an advisory, the DOJ said the email address, osecmig1@gmail.com, is being used to request assistance in the alleged procurement of iTunes gift cards as donations to patients at hospice care units, subject to reimbursement.
The DOJ clarified that the Office of the Secretary’s only official email accounts are osec@doj.gov.ph and osecmig@gmail.com.
“Message coming from a different email address than that of the official ones… shall be dealt with conscientiously, as these neither originate from this Department, the Office of the Secretary, nor the Justice Secretary,” it said.
The agency advised those that will receive a message from the fake email to look out for a warning message, report the message as phishing, block the sender, report the message as spam, and report to the concerned service provider. -Joahna Lei Casilao/MDM, GMA News
