Danao believes firearms found in warehouse ‘recycled’ from military, police
National Capital Region Police chief Police Major General Vicente Danao Jr. believes that the thousands of loose firearms, ammunition, and high-powered weapons parts found in a warehouse in Bulacan were police- and military-issued items that were not properly disposed of.
According to a report by Jonathan Andal on 24 Oras on Sunday, Danao said the loose firearms and ammunition were being reassembled before being sold to private armed groups. He added that the sales have gone online.
"Ide-demilitarize na dapat. Totally disposed of dapat 'yan then makikitang tunaw talaga," he said.
[They should be demilitarized. They must be totally disposed of and you should see them melted down.]
Danao said he expects the investigation to reach the high government officials.
He also said that the possible buyers of these firearms include the NPA, terrorist groups, and private armies.
"Sa dami ng namatay na sundalo at pulis na nakipaglaban sa ating mga kaaway and yet we are feeding them with the same military hardware eh ang laki ng problema natin talaga," he said.
[So many soldiers and police have died in the fight against our enemies and yet we are feeding them with the same military hardware. So we have a big problem.]
