Gordon on Duterte: No nation deserves him

Senator Richard Gordon on Tuesday expressed his frustration at President Rodrigo Duterte over the President's series of tirades against him.

"'Di pa ba natin nakikita itong laro nitong presidenteng ito? Ibang klase. No nation deserves him,” Gordon said in an interview, citing Duterte's controversial previous remarks, including those against the Pope.

(Can't we see this President's game? He plays differently. No nation deserves him.)

With these remarks, Gordon said Duterte has betrayed the public’s trust.

“No nation deserves him because nagtiwala ang tao [the public trusted him] and he betrayed the trust of the people,” he said.

Gordon has been the target of Duterte's tirades in his recent public addresses for leading the Senate investigation into the government's alleged overpriced procurement of the face masks, face shields and other personal protective equipment.

In his latest public address, Duterte said he would bar Cabinet members from attending the probe without his clearance as he said that officials spend most of their time in the Senate hearing even if they are not being asked by the lawmakers for their testimonies.

Duterte also said he will personally campaign against Gordon should he run for public office next year. --KBK, GMA News
