Sara now backs President Duterte’s bid for VP

After initially distancing herself from her father's vice presidential run, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has now thrown her support behind President Rodrigo Duterte's bid for the vice presidential post in Eleksyon 2022.

"Mayroong kaming maayos na kasunduan ni Pangulong Duterte sa aming kani-kaniyang karera sa pulitika. Ibigay po natin sa kanya ang pinakamalakas na suporta na tumakbong vice president," she said in a video message on Wednesday.

(President Duterte and I have an agreement regarding our respective political careers. Let us give him our biggest support for his VP run.)

Both Dutertes have said that only one of them will run for national office at next year's polls.

The mayor previously said she would not support the potential tandem of Senator Bong Go and her father in the 2022 presidential elections even as she announced that she will not seek the presidency.

The older Duterte formally accepted his ruling party PDP-Laban's nomination for him to run for vice president. Go, his longtime aide, declined the nomination for the presidency. — BM, GMA News
