PNP celebrates 120th police service anniversary

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday celebrated the 120th anniversary of police service in the Philippines at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

In a statement, the PNP said the virtual ceremonies were streamed live to the different police regional and provincial offices and police stations in the country.

The PNP's predecessor, the Philippine Constabulary, was established in 1901.

PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said the 2021 commemoration focuses on the aspiration of the organization to promote integrity and cleanliness.

“The true measure of public service is the appreciation, the trust, the confidence and the respect of the people we serve,” he said.

“I made sure that the true spirit of our anniversary is understood and celebrated by our personnel on the ground because our police stations and offices in various parts of the country are the true frontliners of our police service,” he added.

In his message, Eleazar pointed out important police operational accomplishments and good deeds of police officers.

PNP units and personnel received awards for their outstanding performance and achievements.
