House panel ends COVID-19 supplies probe, to release findings after 60 days
After four hearings, the House of Representatives’ committee on good government and public accountability on Monday ended its probe into the allegedly overpriced medical supplies procured by the government in 2020 for its COVID-19 response.
In a text message to reporters, House Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Michael Edgar Aglipay said the report will be released within 60 days.
“As I have said before, the House Blue Ribbon Committee shall not prolong the legislative inquiry on this subject,” Aglipay said during the final hearing of the committee.
“In three meetings alone, we have unraveled vast information for this Committee to make a recommendation on whether malfeasance, misfeasance or non-feasance was committed by public officials,” he added.
The parallel investigation conducted by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is on its 11th hearing on Tuesday, October 4.
The lawmakers have been grilling the officials from the Department of Budget and Management Procurement Service and the owners and employees of Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation— the small firm which bagged billions worth of contracts for the procurement of pandemic-related supplies. — BM, GMA News
