PNP: 32 more personnel get COVID-19; total cases at 41,646


The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded an additional 32 cases of COVID-19 among its personnel, bringing the total number of infections to 41,646 as of Monday.

In an update, the PNP said 40,746 had recovered from the disease, while 777 are still active cases.

The death toll due to COVID-19 in the police organization remained at 123.

According to the PNP, the latest fatality was a pregnant policewoman assigned in Central Luzon who died on October 17 due to acute respiratory syndrome secondary to COVID-19.

Based on her medical records, the cop was admitted to the hospital in Baler, Aurora due to breathing difficulty on October 8. She tested positive for COVID-19.

On October 10, she was transferred to a hospital in Nueva Ecija where she underwent an emergency caesarian operation, delivering a baby boy who subsequently died.

On October 17, she was declared dead by the attending physician.

As of Sunday, the PNP said 196,184 or 87.92% of its personnel are already fully vaccinated, while 24,082 or 10.79% are still waiting for their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

At least 2,884 or 1.29% of PNP personnel have yet to be vaccinated. — DVM, GMA News
