Duterte asks mayors, barangay chairs to identify residents yet to be vaccinated
President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday urged mayors and barangay captains to identify constituents who have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19.
"I urge LGUs to come up with a more systematic and efficient way of finding out who among your constituents have not yet vaccinated," Duterte said in his taped weekly Talk to the People.
He added that local officials must "do everything" and "impose their authority" in inviting their unvaccinated residents to go to inoculation sites.
"I would like to appeal to mayors and barangay captains na magpasyal ng kalahating araw. Tanungin kung sino pa hindi nabakunahan at sabihin niya na kung may scheduled na bakuna. You will see to it na gusto kita makita doon kasi maghawa-hawa ka lang ng ibang tao kung ayaw mo," he added.
Duterte earlier disclosed that around 25 million Filipinos already received a second dose of COVID-19 vaccines while 30 million got their first dose.
The Chief Executive also said that they are eyeing to inoculate a total of 50 million people by the end of this year.
God's mercy
The President also acknowledged God's mercy with the recent decline in daily new COVID-19 cases.
"Medyo mababa na so okay na siguro ang takbo natin. Sa awa ng Diyos, palagi sa awa ng Diyos kasi kawawa tayo kapag iniwan tayo ng Diyos," he said.
He also reported that the positivity rate went down from 10.3% on October 23 to 9% on Monday.
"This means one out of 10 persons tested, will turn positive," Duterte said. — BM, GMA News
