Philippines records 1,974 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 28K
The Department of Health on Thursday reported 1,974 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the Philippines' total caseload to 2,811,248, as two laboratories failed to submit their data.
The new infections brought the country's active case count to 28,660, of which, 62.1% are mild, 5.9% are asymptomatic, 10.4% are severe, and 4.4 are in critical condition. This is the lowest active case count since the 28,488 on February 22.

Total recoveries, meanwhile, increased to 2,737,722 after 2,388 more patients defeated the respiratory illness.
The death toll climbed to 44,866 with 142 new fatalities.
The DOH said additional 60 deaths were reported, of which 37 were previously reported recoveries. The additional deaths were due to technical issues encountered with its system on November 8.
The country's positivity rate was at 4.9%, which is already below the World Health Organization's requirement. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were at 43,357.
The DOH also noted that 37 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 104 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
Latest data from the DOH also showed that 41% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 23% of the mechanical ventilators are in use.
In Metro Manila, 38% of the ICU beds are utilized, while 22% of the ventilators are in use.—LDF, GMA News
