Philippines reports 984 new COVID-19 cases; active tally down to 19K

The Department of Health (DOH) logged only 984 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the country's total tally to 2,826,853.

This is the second lowest daily number of cases reported following the 849 infections on November 16.

According to the DOH, only 2.8% of the 35,901 individuals tested were found positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.

The new cases brought the country's active case count to 19,798, of which 56.6% are mild, 4.6% are asymptomatic, 13.3% are severe, and 5.6% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries increased to 2,759,767 after 2,229 more patients defeated the viral disease.

The death toll climbed to 47,288 with 218 new fatalities.

The DOH also noted that 447 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 94 cases found to have tested negative have been removed from the total case count.

Meanwhile, 169 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH said two laboratories were not operational on November 20, while three laboratories were not able to submit their data.

Latest data from the DOH also showed that 32% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 18% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.

In Metro Manila, 31% of the ICU beds are utilized, while 20% of the ventilators are in use.—LDF, GMA News
