Philippines receives over 680,000 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine

At least 682,360 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine purchased by the Philippine government were delivered to the country on Tuesday morning.

The arrival of Moderna doses came two days after the government announced that booster doses of vaccine against COVID-19 can now be administered to senior citizens who received their last vaccine dose six months ago.

Prior to the elderly, the government had also approved giving booster shots to around 1.7 million-strong health workers this month.

At least 32 million Filipinos are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 so far, according to acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles.

This figure is way behind the target of vaccinating 80% of the country's 109 million population by May 9, 2022. — Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA News
