Woman takes COVID-19 booster shot before meeting British boyfriend in Thailand

A woman has decided to get her COVID-19 booster shot for protection and in consideration of her love life as she wants to feel safe before meeting her British boyfriend in Thailand, according to Ian Cruz’s “24 Oras” report on Friday.

Merle Reate got her booster shot in De La Salle University Dasmariñas gym after the government started administering COVID-19 booster shots to all fully vaccinated adults on Friday, December 3.

“Plano lang magkita kami sa Thailand (We plan to meet in Thailand),” Reate said.

The Philippine government has administered over 400,000 COVID-19 booster shots, according to the report.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said the people can choose the brand for their booster dose. However, it is still preferable to use the vaccines that are available.

More than 90 million doses have been administered with 52 million of these had their first dose while 37 million received a full dose.

Meanwhile, the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) underscored that the inoculation against COVID-19 among the elderly must be intensified.

“We have reached 70% of the first doses and about 68% of the second doses for senior citizens. Hindi pa rin sapat ‘yon (That is not enough),” Health Undersecretary and NVOC chairperson Myrna Cabotaje said. -- Richa Noriega/BAP, GMA News
