PNP acquires P398 million in equipment, vehicles
As part of its modernization program, the Philippine National Police (PNP) received on Monday over 3,800 pieces of equipment worth P398,219,400.
PNP Chief Police General Dionardo Carlos led the official commissioning of these police necessities at Camp Crame, Quezon City.
In a statement, PNP Bids and Awards Committee Chairman Police Major General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. presented the following to Carlos:
- 161 Patrol jeeps
- 594 Tactical Vest Level 3A1,389 Upgrade Plates Level 4
- 3,106 Undershirt Vest Level 3A
- 10 units Rapid Deployment CCTV System (1 Lot) Assault Rifle
- 22 units integrator
According to the PNP, these new police vehicles, force protection, and IT equipment were funded through the supplemental appropriations for the Capability Enhancement Program (CEPs) 2019, 2020, and 2021, Congress-Introduced Initiative Appropriation Balance 2018, and Operational Transformation Plan 2015.
PNP Acting Director for Logistics Police Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Olay said the patrol vehicles would be issued to various police stations across the country.
Carlos explained that these would boost police patrol operations as part of an intensified security drive in communities in times of national health crisis.
The tactical and undershirt armor vests would then be distributed to the Provincial Mobile Force Companies and police stations, while the rapid deployment CCTV systems will be given to the Directorate for Operations, and the integrators to Police Regional Offices.
The PNP also thanked the private companies for donating personal protective equipment, medical products, and other essential supplies for police frontline units. — DVM, GMA News
