DOH: No new COVID-19 admissions reported in 598 hospitals nationwide


A total of 598 hospitals nationwide reported no new COVID-19 admissions from December 5 to December 9, the Department of Health announced Friday.

“We have observed that nationally, 48.5% of hospitals reported no new COVID-19 admissions in the past 5 days,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a media briefing.

According to Vergeire, Region XII is leading with zero COVID-19 admissions in 75.4% of its hospitals, followed by the Bangsamoro Region with 73.1%, and Region X with 65.7% of its hospitals.

Data from the DOH show there are 49 hospitals in Region XII, 19 hospitals in BARMM, and 46 hospitals in Region X.

“Meanwhile, 11% of level 3 hospitals in the NCR reported no new COVID-19 admissions in the past five days,” Vergeire added.

According to her, national admissions have been on a steady decline and are currently at low-risk utilization at 20% while ICU admissions have also been on a steady decline, and are currently at low risk at 25%.

On Thursday, the Philippines logged 562 new COVID-19 cases, marking the 16th straight day the country reported below-1,000 daily new cases tally.

This brings the nationwide tally to 2,835,996 and active cases to 12,169. —LBG, GMA News
